Why choose to mediate?

1. Mediation is fair and impartial.
Parties have an equal say in the process and they, not the mediator, decide the terms of the settlement.

2. Mediation saves time and money.
Mediation works best when used early in a conflict and most mediations are completed in one meeting.

3. Mediation is confidential.
Information disclosed during mediation will not be revealed to anyone else.

4. Mediation avoids litigation.
Mediation costs less in time, money and emotional toil than a lawsuit and avoids the uncertain outcome of a trial.

5. Mediation fosters cooperation.
Mediation fosters a problem-solving approach for anyone in a conflict and gets to the root of the issue to resolve it for all the parties.

6. Mediation improves communication.
Mediation provides a neutral and confidential setting in which the parties can openly discuss their views or their underlying dispute. Enhanced communication can lead to a mutually satisfactory resolution.

7. Mediation allows for personalized solutions.
An impartial third-party, the mediator, assists the parties in conflict to reach a voluntary, mutually beneficial resolution that can go beyond the simple exchange of money. Mediation can resolve all issues important to the parties, not just those that are triable by a court of law.

8. Mediation works!
The majority of cases resolve at mediation, leaving the parties with peace of mind and the ability to move forward and focus on other aspects of their lives.

How long does mediation take?
Most mediations can be completed in less than a day. Seymour Mediations offers half day and full day mediations. If your case is multi-party/ multi-issue case, it may take longer.
